Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Plait Health iOS app (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Who can use Plait Health
You must be at least 13 years old to use Plait Health. If you are under the age of majority where you live, your parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf. Plait Health is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.
3. Your account
You are responsible for safeguarding the credentials used to access your account and for all activity that occurs under it. Notify us at security@plaithealth.app immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Plait Health offers in-app subscriptions billed through your Apple ID. Pricing is shown in the App and on our pricing page. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal in your Apple ID settings.
- Free trial — first 7 days are free; you will not be charged if you cancel before the trial ends.
- Renewal — Apple charges your payment method at the start of each renewal period.
- Cancellation — manage or cancel in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
- Refunds — handled by Apple per their refund policy. Plait Health does not issue refunds directly.
5. Medical disclaimer
Plait Health provides information about food, nutrition, and the relationship between diet and certain health conditions. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose any condition, and is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified healthcare provider.
The AI food scanner produces estimates with confidence scores. These estimates may be wrong. Always:
- Consult a registered dietitian or doctor before making meaningful changes to your diet, medication, or care plan.
- Verify nutritional information against the actual product label when accuracy matters.
- Treat any flagged ingredient or allergen warning as a prompt to investigate, not as a definitive diagnosis.
- Seek emergency medical care for any urgent symptom; do not rely on this app.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App to share content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit.
- Submit content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
- Submit medical misinformation through the community features.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code (except where permitted by law).
- Use automated tools or bots to interact with the App.
- Submit false or misleading data to manipulate other users' meal recommendations.
We reserve the right to remove content, suspend accounts, or terminate access for violations.
7. User-submitted content
When you share a meal to the Plait Health community, you grant Plait Health a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, and distribute that content within the App. You retain ownership. You confirm that you have the right to share the content and that it does not violate any third-party rights. Plait Health may moderate community submissions automatically and manually.
8. Intellectual property
The Plait Health name, the braid logo, the App design, source code, and all related materials are owned by Plait Health Limited and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written permission.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Plait Health Limited, its directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or use, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in that period.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Termination
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if continued service becomes commercially impractical, or if required by law. Cancellation of a subscription does not by itself delete your account; use Settings → Privacy → Delete account for that.
12. Changes to the App or these Terms
We may modify the App or these Terms at any time. Material changes to these Terms will be notified in-app at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. The courts of Auckland have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory local law gives you the right to bring a claim in your country of residence.
